Commissioners April Wesley and Alex Kohli point out intricate contemporary references on a "Mayan" statue at the Encanto/Central Avenue light rail station. Jaimex and Einar de la Torre, brothers who have studios in California and Mexico, sculpted the project.

Bruce Birnel of the Arts and Culture Commission rotates one of the bronze boxes with pictorial sentences by the de la Torre brothers. With him are Councilmember Frank Cavalier and Alex Kohli.
